Sometimes you have to keep yourself grounded with a good friend and a 2 hour session of cake and fancy coffee. It's comforting to know that I have friends in this world that will back me up what no matter what. There's an ear for when I want to talk, there's a hug without words awaiting and most of all they are there. Sure, I have friends, most of them acquiantances, but when I call someone a good friend, they are for life. Already, we've seen each other through important milestones and life events, and together it keeps unfolding presenting gems of happiness and strength in strife.
Surround yourself with good people. This is one thing I strive to do.
Be a good friend.
I only a handful and really, that's all I need.

Sunday afternoon overlooking Los Angeles at Barnsdall Park in Los Feliz. Every moment savored with grass under my feet, a plate of food, the sun warming my skin, good conversation and Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock in view.
And I still got it! I can still hula hoop, baby!
Got to tinker with a Mamiya and a Fuji 100 camera and while talking to the camera owner, I saw someone that looked familiar. Hidden behind funky sunglasses, I asked her where I might know her and asked if she could take off her glasses. I didn't look familiar to her at all. We made the connection, we went to the same weird high school. She was a year older and in a different concentration then and we never talked in high school. We got to talking more and I unearth that she is singing with UCLA Bulgarian Women's choir, a micro niche of musician knowledge in LA. You're cool in my book if you know about the shrilling essence of Bulgarian women's choral music and here I was talking to someone who performs it. The picnic went from good to great in the conversation sharing our enthusiastic experiences singing in this group.
A refreshing talk on Bulgarian music, playful doggies roaming, sprawled out blankets and hula hooping fulfilled my Sunday afternoon.
